Self-care is of the utmost importance every day of the year but the late winter months tend to demand a bit more than usual since most of us are tearing our hair out from lack of sun and just an overall need to get out of the house and move around. My biggest suggestion to anyone who struggles with this time of year the way I do is to incorporate the following beauty rituals into your schedule and keep your eyes on the spring horizon.
Winter Cleansing Bath Recipe:
- Epson Salt
- Lemon Peel
- Honey
- Coconut Oil
- Lavender Oil
- Clary Sage Oil
- Powdered Milk (optional)
I like to light a white candle and listen to a chill lo-fi hip hop or old-school jazz playlist for this bath but you do you. The powdered milk is for the lactic acid which is extremely transformative for the skin and also will 1000% make you feel like a queen. I mean, if it’s good enough for Cleopatra….
Deep-Clean Skincare
Prepare your skin for the spring and summer months with a a deeply exfoliating and hydrating Sacred Ace Facial! The winter months are harsh on the skin and our gorgeous faces deserve the very best. As the thaw begins to near prepping your skin with a series of Botanical Chemical Peels, Dermaplane Sessions, or simply a full Sacred Ace Facial will set your skin up for real success by evening out skin tone, smoothing textures, and boosting cellular turnover/collagen production.
Detox Your Closet and Beauty Altar (aka vanity, aka drawer of products etc.)
Prepare your closet and vanity for spring by sorting any old products and clothing items that no longer fit or align with your style or that are simply expired. Set aside anything that is in good shape to be donated later or sold online/consignment, and the pieces that need some love can be mended by you if you’ve got some basic sewing skills. Got full Marie Kondo with it and really drop in with each item and ask yourself “does it bring me joy.” While the Netflix show is super irritating to me, Marie is definitely spot- on with her tactics and the reasoning behind them.
- Clean your shelves and wipe down products. Throw out the old and anything that is still good but no longer needed can be donated to a shelter if it’s a product of necessity.
- Burn cleansing herbs and resins in the spaces where you get ready while saying positive affirmations about yourself out loud.
- Keep fresh white flowers on your vanity or near wherever you get ready for your day.
